Description

Noted as the finest of all upright Sedums, Autumn Joy Sedum produces from its sturdy stems, a variety of flower heads with an umbrella-like shape, whose color changes from pink to a rosy-red shade. This plant loses its leaves in the winter.

Maintenance Tips

Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ is an ornamental succulent with gorgeous blooms that can flower most of the year in mild climates. They are fairly easy to grow and can thrive in a spectrum of conditions. They are drought tolerant, but they can take excess water as long as the soil is well draining. When the flowers have faded, they can be deadheaded or just left alone if you prefer the look of the dried flowers through the fall. Just like most succulents, this plant can be easily propagated by cuttings. During the winter, especially when the days are short and the weather is wet, these plants can lose their luster and look a bit waterlogged. They can be cut back hard during this time, and they will return in the spring with fresh growth and flowers.
